This project started with a short animation created by Jael Peñaloza (Underverse and Cross!Sans creator, also known as JakeiNimation). The main storyline is about a Sans that came from a mysterious and corrupted AU, having inside Chara’s half determination, they will travel for many AU’s to infect them with the X-Event, a power that will corrupt those worlds and will restore their own.
The inhabitants from the AU’s will be involved in this story, trying to stop Cross!Sans and Cross!Chara in order to discover the meaning of his existence and the true meaning of the X-Event.
List of AUs (Including Undertale post-pacifist timeline) that will appear on this animated series (It will be on constantly change, also there are Characters who don’t have an official AU.)
Ink and Error have been fighting against themselves for the Multiverse existence. Error has found the Doodle Sphere, an access to all AU’s. Ink will try to stop hem and make fun of his eternal friend/rival. However, both skeletons will be taken by a strange force to a empty, huge ocean with a little piece of island. Both are not able to use their powers and come back to the multiverse…It’s time to find their own worlds and end with that pointless war.
The Multiverse Balance is about to start by itself thanks to their truce: Don’t destroy and don’t create AUs anymore.
Error and Ink are now almost friends, but the artist skeleton doesn’t feel so happy. He can’t motivate people anymore…
Ink will find a new friend and both will make a promise.
ABOUT X-TALE
X-Tale is an Undertale Alternate Universe (AU). This world started just two Humans and one Monster:
Xtale!Frisk, Xtale!Chara and XGaster.
XGaster was the responsable of creating the huge XTale thanks to his power: The [OVERWRITE] button. He knew already the existence of the other monsters. But he thought they were their own creation.
XGaster wrote the full story of this AU. All monsters and humans lived together in the Surface. Asriel was alive, Frisk and Chara were adopted by Toriel and Asgore. There was the perfect story, the perfect world for everyone.
But XGaster got bored.
With his power of Overwrite, he could make something better than a Reset and create timelines, He corrupted the same AU’s code, modifying people’s behavior, powers, the appearance of places, monsters and humans, even writing their own way to die.
Frisk and Chara grew up. Each time they reached their adolescence, their loved ones died by the pass of time, by diseases, by suicides, accidents…RESET by RESET…each people’s story was the same because of XGaster. With both DETERMINATION souls, Frisk and Chara decided to fight against him, trying to stop that terrible nightmare.
They failed.
XGaster Overwritten their souls, mixing them into one being. He wanted to create an experiment.
Cross!Chara became in a part of Cross!Frisk’s soul and body, and they would never grow up anymore, then, he gave them a new chance, a new power better than RESET, so he took Half of his OVERWRITE power and introduce it into their new core code.
That experiment would be the Prototype of the X-EVENT.
Frisk and Chara, now called as the “Experiment” was able to modify and reset anytime, only by XGaster’s approval.
–
XTale was modified Ten times, where people and story were a Pacifist, Neutral or Genocidal route. If the Experiment tried to Reset. the timeline wouldn’t be affected and would have the same route assigned.
The Experiment began to feel Sorrow and Frustration.
The last timeline written by XGaster. His masterpiece.
The experiment tried to modify this timeline, but it was hard since he was being chased by other humans and always under their friends and family protection. He was incapable to show his power, because he loved them. They loved them so much.
One day, the Experiment could restore part of the main core code of Sans, bringing them back his Genocidal memories.
– To be continued…
WHO IS CROSS!SANS?
Better known as “Cross” or “C”, is an Alternate Sans from the X-Tale Universe. In the Timeline Number Ten, he was trained along with his brother Papyrus to become a Royal Guard in order to protect Frisk after they broke the Barrier and brought peace between humans and monsters. His Genocide core code was restored by Frisk, obligating him to destroy him forever, releasing the true X-Event that was inside him, taking the form of Chara. Cross destroyed half of Chara’s soul and sealed it in his own body to prevent a new Overwrite and hurting somebody else again.
Cross feels ashamed about his Royal Guard costume.
His real name is Sans, but Frisk gave him the nickname “Cross” because of his clothes design and his desire to create a new AU and a new Timeline with the OVERWRITE power.
X-Gaster is his father. He always tried to get away from him.
Cross was a energetic and happy person, He never was a lazy bones.
They had knowledge about the main Timeline thanks to his Frisk (Undertale)
His blood color is purple, as well as his tears and when he blushes.
His favorite food is Chocolate
He also likes Tacos when Ink show them after seeing a drawing about it.
Cross is afraid of cows because of their sound. The fear is bigger when he sees a black and white cow.
When Cross is sleeping, Cross!Chara can take the control over his body, even if he doesn’t have a physical soul. (Chara is only Determination inside Cross’ body)
His soul can be extracted out of his body when he is distracted and receives an attack or even a simple hit.
CROSS HABILITIES:
HACK Knife
It’s a hack programmed for Cross!Chara. With this weapon, it allows Cross!Sans to break Au’s main code and get access to it. Also, they can corrupt people or objects’ codes.
The normal appearance of the knife is gray, as a normal iron knife, but when they are going to corrupt the codes, it turns into a flashing red.
Cross!Sans can use his own powers (Gaster Blasters and Bone attacks, despite they’re have been corrupted too). When Cross is decided to use them, the color of his magic in his left eye is represented as purple-white (top-below)
Cross!Sans can’t travel to other AU’s for his own if he doesn’t get first an access to their main code or “routes”.
> Ink!Sans, Error!Sans, Nightmare!Sans, Dream!Sans or another Sans that can travel on the multiverse is the only way for him to discover those routes. > When Cross obtain knowledge from an AU, he can go there every time he wants, altering it temporarily or even “stealing” part of the main code to move to his own universe.
CROSS’ XBLASTER CONCEPT
WHO IS CROSS!CHARA?
Cross!Chara or Chara is a part of the X-Event prototype that survived when Frisk was destroyed by Cross. His soul still having the trait of Determination, but also he has the power of Overwrite. A forced modification of Reset.
He is now a half of Determination in Cross’ monster soul, represented as a human’s half of soul. Chara is the responsible to giving Cross the X-Event ability. But Cross only uses it for rebuild his world. Chara wants to use his full power to Overwrite all the AUs and creating just one timeline in the entire Multiverse when he can obtain another human soul.
Before the Timeline number Ten, Chara and Frisk had their own bodies. Both could reach the age of 18.
His current appearance is his 18 years old into a 10 years old version, because is the representation of his mind and soul, not his body.
His true child body is shown when he takes a human soul.
The Overwrite power prevents Chara and Frisk to growing up.
Nobody can see Chara, except for other humans and Gasters (Only Ink, Error, Underswap!Sans/Papyrus/Chara, Nightmare and Classic Sans know about his existence).
His right eye is covered by his hair because of a scar made by XGaster as a result of the X-Event prototype creation.
When Error!Sans took their soul, both Cross!Sans and Chara lost control over their body, corrupting themselves and turning into an unstable being, having only few hours to live thanks to Chara’s determination.
They’re fighting for the body’s possession, changing their appearance every time (Chara’s body or Cross’ body). Thanks to Chara, Cross was able to take half of Classic!Sans’ soul and recover their physical body.
With a new Sans’ soul inside, Cross recovered his body and He has full control. Chara only gives him advice and The X-Event Power to accomplish their purposes.
on a serious note: this is how you can tell the difference in a wolf spider and a grass spider. eye arrangement is very cool stuff!!!
on another serious note: FANTASY/SCIFI CHARACTER DESIGNERS TAKE NOTE PLEASE (also look up different spider face shapes, no need to reinvent the wheel when creating monsters/aliens)
on a REALLY serious note: they’re all gorgeous. all beautiful. luscious eyeballs. shaped like friends…….
Late last year I wanted to start a series of short tutorials called Tip Jar, as a way of saying thanks to my fans and giving back to my patrons. This is the first of the series I have made, showing my technique on quickly filling in lineart so you can get to painting without coloring outside the lines faster.
Someday I hope to turn these into video tutorials when I have the income and the time, but for now I hope that I will be able to share useful tips in this infographic format.
Worth sharing because this is exaaaaactly how I do my flats! I get this question all the time when I post my process videos, and this explains it far more succinctly than I ever could. 🙂
I’ve had a general idea what these things did but wasn’t completely sure what their specific functions were. I decided to sit down and figure it out, and I have thrown together a short reference guide for anyone who is confused about them. I know there are multiple translations of SAI floating around, so if some of these terms don’t sound familiar, just know that I’m talking about the three settings that appear under the texture in the brush tool settings (note that this won’t apply to any tool types except for brushesand watercolor brushes).
I don’t claim to be an expert so if you find I’ve made a mistake, let me know so I can update it, thanks! :3

BLENDING (Color Blending)
This controls how readily the brush will inherit any colors you are painting over with it. For example, a 0% blending setting will pick up no existing colors, treating it as if you were painting on a transparent layer. A 100% blending setting will ONLY pick up existing colors (provided there are any). So at 100%, the color you’re using won’t even show up, unless you move to a transparent area. Blending is not affected by transparent pixels, so if you’re drawing on a blank layer it will have no effect.
So you can see from this example that the color I’m using gets harder to paint as the blending increases and more of the existing green is absorbed, until at 100% it is just completely turning green.

DILUTION (Opacity Mix)
This controls how readily the brush will draw on a blank (transparent) part of the layer. A 0% Dilution will result in the brush painting very easily onto a blank surface, while a brush with 100% dilution will literally not paint on blank parts of the layer at all. Dilution is ONLY affected by transparent pixels. So it won’t do anything if the whole layer is already filled in (even with white). Dilution can be thought of as the inverse of the Blending setting in some ways.
So in this example, you can see that as dilution approaches 100%, the color I’m painting with basically becomes invisible. In fact, if you were to switch to binary color mode and look at this layer, there would literally be nothing there anymore!
Keep this in mind – if you ever can’t paint for some reason, check your dilution setting, it might have gotten accidentally bumped to 100!

PERSISTENCE
This one goes hand-in-hand with blending. Basically, it controls how easily a brush shifts color as you are blending from one color to another. Rather, how long it “persists” if you will. Like blending, Persistence is only really relevant when painting over existing color so it’s mostly unaffected by transparent pixels. Basically, the higher the persistence, the longer it will take for the color to shift as you make a stroke, and subsequently, from which color to which other color it is shifting is dependent on the blending setting.
So for this example I’ve done the same test with three different levels of blending. I turned off all pressure sensitivity (actually I just used my mouse) to emphasize the effects in a controlled environment:
If blending is at 0%, persistence fails to have any real effect. With pressure on, there is only the difference of having to push harder, but the results will be the same as far as I can tell.
At a happy medium of 50%, persistence increase causes the orange that the brush is picking up to last longer as it goes into the green, until it never shifts to blue at all.
At 100% blending, there was never any blue in the first place, because as we already know, full blending causes you to only pick up existing color. So the persistence setting changes only how fast the orange changes to green.
Persistence is dependent upon the blending settings, so having them somewhere in the middle will probably produce the most optimal results.

CONCLUSION
Ultimately how you use these is up to you, and is largely dependent on what kind of brush you’re making and what it will be used for. And most of these settings are meant to be used together in unison, so play around with them a lot!
If you are confused, or not sure what settings you want or what settings you should be using, a safe bet is to put them all at about 50% – that will produce fairly average results that are easy to work with, and it’s easy to remember in case you want to experiment but don’t want to forget your settings in case you decide to switch back.
Cropping can be tricky. I use a very simple trick of cropping things at 2/3 or ¾. I avoid cropping at any joint or edge to avoid the illusion of something is missing or uncomfortable.

A compilation of stuff I know about drawing Asian faces and Asian culture! I feel like many “How-To-Draw” tutorials often default to European faces and are not really helpful when drawing people of other races. So I thought I’d put this together in case anyone is interested! Feel free to share this guide and shoot me questions if you have any! I’m by no means an expert, I just know a few things from drawing experience and from my own cultural background.
