I NEED ONE
I’M ACTUALLY SCREAMING RIGHT NOW THESE ARE TOO ADORABLE.

idk Mania why don’t you take a dip in the ocean and find out? 😉

What the fuck.
Oh gosh no I’d never mind people wanting to! I was just… ranty again about it >w>;; and always kinda nervous because I already have a hard time explaining myself lmao.
Anyways I guess now’s a good time to uh. Under-The-Cut this while vomiting details about one of them… since there’s too many to put into one post…
Meet the Acquita! A variety of marine folk found around deeper bodies of water. Pidge is just there for size comparisons since he’s the most accurately drawn character of everyone so far lel There’s two varieties: Freshwater, or River-dwellers as some dorks wanna call ‘em, and Saltwater/Ocean-dwellers.

The freshwater ones, pictured above, are wanderers, based off of varying types of algae commonly found in ponds and the like. Their “hair” is actually living algae, which is kinda neat since they can do everything normal algae would do for an ecosystem, and is very much involved with festivals and such.. They’re also much smaller in stature due to living in slightly shallower bodies of water with no real currents to swim through. Also very fond of tribal costumes and festivals. The closest I have to that outfit is the one on the very far right, but that was just me being lazy with colour palettes. I’ll probably redesign the outfits later but for now, this is all there is x_x
They’re relatively welcoming of outsiders, and will happily include them in whatever activity they’re up to, provided the outsider is interested and willing to listen or learn about it.
ALSO!! They’ve kind of developed a back claw of sorts on their heels, for walking across dry land. Sometimes, summers get too hot they have to move around and find new lakes or ponds to stay at, since some ponds and rivers can and WILL dry up.
Then there’s these losers. The Saltwater ones. Yes that’s a big-ass tiger shark. I love him.

Since y’know, the ocean is so utterly full of currents and big-bad-baddies that’ll eat you alive, these guys evolved to be MUCH larger in stature, with extra fins along their backs, arms/wrists and ankles/legs for balance. Also have massive claws for hunting. Their hair is based more off the saltwater kelp-type plants one would find in the ocean, but are functionally the same for the marine ecosystems. I also had an idea for sea anemones but, I haven’t been inspired enough to draw those ones yet. Maybe tomorrow.
Much less friendly towards outsiders, especially since marine vessels were invented and people started jackin’ their food and such. If best to just steer clear of their villages. Not that that’s too hard, since they like to set up shop along craggy coastlines covered in rough rocks. Helps keep the outsiders… well, out. >w>;;
These guys, for all their strength, aren’t well-equipped for walking on land. Massive webbed feet and all that. Much more at home in the oceans. Only have one drawing of the Saltwater ones cus I just started on them today but, it gets the idea across.
And yeah.. that’s them. There was no googling for design ideas, just images of kelp and algae to help with colour selection and hair designs lmao.
I was really uh… worried when designing these because “what if they look too much like zoras? I don’t want that, people will think I’m stealing or something.” and also “shit they kinda look like Undyne, that’s no good either.” But then I realized partway through drawing them that I shouldn’t care about it as much as I do because EVERYTHING at this point in time will remind someone of EVERYTHING ELSE. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Bonus points if you can figure out where “Acquita” came from. I am not ashamed at how unoriginal it is lmfao.

This.. this is what those new amiibo are implying.. right??
at first I was like “precious canon poly” but that immediately devolved into “the kidnapping and retrieval rituals in each game are actually a complicated act of foreplay” and I don’t wanna think about it anymore
rebuttal: it’s not sexual they just think it’s fun
if you remove Peach, you can make Mario and Bowser hold hands 😀
I love reptiles. Like a LOT. There isn’t really a reptile I’m not entirely enamoured by if I get it in my sights. Most fond of snakes though, best experience I had was getting to pet a wild anaconda, against the tour guides wishes.

I MEAN LOOK AT HIM HE’S SO CUTE???
-glances at the 2 travel mugs and 1 thermos in my possession- You might be on to something there.
